Will You Have Regrets?
I am a self-admitted book nerd. I read regularly for professional development. I am reading biographies of actors and actresses from the 1940’s. And I am enjoying some fiction in audio book format.
In Carey Nieuwhof’s book, Didn’t See It Coming: Overcoming 7 Gradual Changes That No Expects and Everyone Experiences, the following observations are made:
The change you don’t implement often becomes something none of us wants-regret. For the sake of the next generation, for the sake of contributing meaningfully throughout your entire life, don’t just intend to change. Actually do it. Because unimplemented change will become regret.
His thoughts are striking to me. I am at a stage in life where change does not come as easily as it did a few years ago. But these references also reminded me of the value of being a lifelong learner. I don’t want to look back at this chapter in my life and be full of regret. I am taking his thoughts to heart!
I was reminded that the choices I am making regarding physical fitness are valuable. I have made significant progress, but now is not the time to give up!
I am making diligent efforts to ensure that longtime friendships remain healthy and vibrant while new friendships grow and deepen as well.
And I am determined not to stop learning. I am just crazy enough to think that at this stage in life I can still become fluent in Spanish.
What change in your life remains unimplemented? My list is pretty long! This nerd better start doing as well as reading!
